Preserving Traditions and Celebrating New Beginnings: Chinese Culture Day Recap
This year’s Chinese Culture Day was successfully held on February 13th. Centered around the interdisciplinary theme of "Inheriting Intangible Cultural Heritage," the event aimed to provide students with a hands-on experience of the profound depth of traditional culture. Students from various levels participated in diverse workshops, including rubbing techniques for Fai Chun, traditional Chinese medicine incense making, blue dyeing, Canton enamel, and embroidery. With great focus and dedication, they created unique pieces of craftsmanship that were later displayed in the school hall. Beyond admiring their peers' creativity, the experience allowed students to realize the vital importance of protecting and passing on our cultural legacy.
As the event coincided with the final school day before the Lunar New Year, the campus was filled with a festive spirit as both teachers and students dressed in traditional Chinese attire. A highlight of the day was the visit to the Principal’s office, where students offered New Year greetings and received the "Five Treasures of the New Year"—a symbolic gift set comprising mandarin oranges, red packets, lettuce, smiling sesame balls, and fortune cookies. Through these meaningful gifts, everyone embraced traditional etiquette in a joyful atmosphere while cultivating positive values for the year ahead.
